FOOT MOBILISATION THERAPY
Foot Mobilisation Therapy (FMT) is a manual therapy which aims to help restore joint function, mobility and reduce pain through use of mobilising and manipulation techniques to treat various conditions of the feet, particularly:
-
Osteoarthritis pain
-
Bunion pain
-
Lateral foot pain
-
Cuboid syndrome
-
Morton's Neuroma
-
Achy feet
How does it help?
-
Improving range of motion
-
Pain reduction
-
Stimulation of fluid within joints
-
Improve joint function
What does this feel like?
Initially it may be slightly uncomfortable; however as the joints begin to restore their range of motion it will have a feeling of relief and the discomfort will reduce significantly.
How the treatment plan works:
Foot Mobilisation Therapy protocol consists of 1-2 x treatment per week for the initial 3 weeks and tapers down to 1 x week for the remaining 3 weeks. FMT is an adjunct to exercise and education, your podiatrist will have a tailored exercise regime planned for you. FMT also has great effectiveness with orthotic therapy and dry needling.
